Africa’s highest peak at 5,895m. No technical climbing — only determination, expert private guides, and the summit of a lifetime.
Each route has its own character — scenery, crowds, acclimatisation, and difficulty all vary. We advise based on your fitness, experience level, and what you want from the mountain.
The most popular route on the mountain — and for good reason. Excellent acclimatisation profile, the dramatic Barranco Wall traverse, and views across the Shira Plateau. Diverse, rewarding, and challenging in exactly the right measure.
The only route with permanent hut accommodation — a warmer, more comfortable ascent. Shorter duration means less acclimatisation time, which affects success rates, but the infrastructure and steady trail make it accessible for first-timers.
Starts from the west, approaching through pristine forest with low crowds and exceptional biodiversity. The longer duration creates ideal acclimatisation conditions. Widely regarded as the most beautiful route on the mountain.
Approaches from Kenya’s border — drier, quieter, and more gradual. The landscape is different from the southern routes: open moorland and distant Kenyan plains. A superior option during the wet seasons when southern routes suffer.
The longest route — and the one with the highest summit success rate. Circles the mountain for a near 360° perspective before ascending. The extra days of acclimatisation make a real, measurable difference at summit altitude.
The steepest and most direct line to the summit. Rapid altitude gain makes acclimatisation difficult, and the physical demands are significant. Not recommended for first-time Kilimanjaro climbers — but a formidable challenge for those who know what they’re doing.

Kilimanjaro’s most celebrated trail. Starting in untouched western montane forests, crossing the Shira Plateau and Lava Tower with pristine acclimatisation to reach Uhuru Peak.
Kilimanjaro’s top-selling classic adventure. Features thrilling scrambles up the Barranco Wall, dramatic ridgeline vistas, and an effective “climb high, sleep low” pace.
The only route on Kilimanjaro offering wooden A-frame mountain huts with bunk beds instead of tents. Steady ascent through lush rainforest, moorland, and alpine desert.
